A Weekend at Home

Monday, January 21, 2013

This weekend felt a little longer than normal because of the snow we got. I worked from home on Friday and had dinner with a couple of friends, spent a lot of time with my sweet old dog, watched some Mad Men with my dad, actually went to mass with my mom on Sunday followed by coffee and breakfast, did a tiny bit of shopping, and saw Life of Pi in the theater with my parents on Sunday afternoon. That movie is amazing. Now I need to get my hands on the book.

The days were quiet and relaxing and just what I needed to reassure me that not seeing Rob as much on the weekends anymore might not always be great, but it isn't going to be impossible. (By the way, thank you all so much for your love and support in regard to my soon-to-be-even-longer-distance relationship. You guys are the best.)

A few random things for you today:

I wrote an open letter to Rihanna and it's on HelloGiggles.

I'm selling some stuff from my closet here
There are clothes and wallets and bags and jewelry.
I'll be adding some jeans in the next few days, too!

I'll be making a more formal call for sponsors next week, but I do have openings for February.
You can check it out right here. (The featured ad space is available!)

I hope you have a great Monday!

  1. Wow Megan, you're article is spectacular. Not only do I love the message, but the way in which you say it is so clean, classy and respectable. I really appreciate you sticking your neck out a little to say something to that effect. Thank you.

  2. I really loved you letter to Rihanna. But I would even go further. With domestic violence it is clear that something is going wrong. But there are so many more ways how a partner can hurt us. What about verbal abuse? I think this is a very big issue too. And here it is even harder to draw a line. To realize were normal critic ends and were the partner actively tries to harm you.

  3. i just read that letter that you wrote to rihanna and i loved it. i'm so mad at her (like i know her personally, right?) because i remember distinctly thinking her and chris brown were the worlds cutest couple until he beat her up. women have to work so much harder then men in this work and abused women aren't taken seriously half the time because of people like rihanna who refuse to take the matter seriously. here's hoping chris brown is a changed man, but i seriously doubt it.

  4. Whoa Megan, I just read your letter to Rhianna... I'm still reeling. I think it was wonderfully written, and beautifully empowering. I think that everyone at one point can identify with not being treated right in a relationship (not necessarily abusive, but all sorts of things) but you light the fire calling out to women to respect themselves.

    Bravo dear!

Also, to you and Rob's long distance ahead, I recommend lots of skype, packages, and even video game dates. (Lou and I played WoW, but you don't necessarily have to stoop to that level of dorkiness). Wishing you two the best!

  5. Love the letter you wrote to Rhianna because I think the exact same thing. Honestly I see all the recent Instagram or twitter pics she puts up of her and Chris Brown who not only abused her but is cheating on her? I don't get it and I find myself thinking she's such a stupid girl. Someone like that... who little girls look up to... She needs to get it together. Far from the role model girls need these days.

  6. That letter to Rihanna gave me chills. It says EVERYTHING I want to say. Everyone keeps calling me a "hater" because I can't respect or like Christ Brown and now I feel the same way about Rihanna. I am a hater. I am a hater of domestic violence. As someone who grew up around it, it really breaks my heart. You're letter was very well put.

  7. I got Life of Pi for christmas too! Your puppy is adorable!
