Happy The Great Gatsby Day! I won't be seeing the movie today or even this weekend--I'm waiting to see it with Rob when he's in town next weekend. But I'm leaving work early this afternoon to head to Longwood for my brother's graduation from college! These past three years since I've graduated have really flown by.

I don't have as many links as usual for you this week, so I didn't put them into categories. Enjoy!

Loved this piece about The Great Gatsby that Dani linked to this morning.

I've got sundresses on the brain: this onethis one, and this one. (Can you tell I love ModCloth?)

Sarah is writing an ebook, has awesome tutorials, and is a circus performer. She's pretty cool.

A long read, but worth it. I love Carey Mulligan.

I loved this piece from Sam on The Equals Record on being boundless.

Jess has a long-distance boyfriend that she met at a Halloween party. We're like twins, except that she lives in Las Vegas and is really good at photography.

24 Painful Things You Must Do to Grow Up. I wish I could check a few of these off.

Loved everything about this commercial that Rob sent me the other day.

THIS.

Who has read The Perks of Being a Wallflower? It's next on my list.

Have a great weekend! I'm sure I'll be Instagramming the crap out of the next few days, so be sure to follow along!

  1. I'm looking forward to seeing the film too,but it won't be happening for a while...I tend to only watch films on long flights! Have a good weekend!

  2. YAY congrats to your brother! this is going to be such a weekend of memories for you I bet :)

and I LOVE what I've been reading about Elizabeth Smart - she'd be brave even if she weren't turning her experience into a teaching moment, but urging us to make the changes ourselves is really something. good for her for speaking out!

also, HOLY COW those Disney villains are blowing my mind.

  4. I've read Perks. It has been my favorite book of the past year. So beautiful. The movie is also fantastic. Not quite as good as the book, but almost. I've seen it 3 times, and I have cried every time but not in a bad way. I think you call it passion eyes? Is that right? If so, that book/movie give it to me for sure.

  6. Goodness, Sam is such a beautiful writer. I can't get enough.

The Disney villian thing is so interesting. Is that what you were trying to write about the other day on Twitter?

And umm hi #6 and #13 of that growing up list. Terrifying and exhilarating.

  7. Also, the Carey Mulligan article is so good. I think we're seeing it tonight and I can't wait, as much as the book hurt my heart.

  9. I thought Perks of being a Wallflower was a pretty good book. I didn't care for the ending, but perhaps it's because I would have preferred a nice pretty ending. I think that you'll like it thought.

  10. Wow. I am so impressed by Elizabeth Smart- I think she has hit the nail on the head with that. And the Disney villain thing is so cool- I actually think a beautiful villain would be so much scarier!! xx

  12. Aww, I'm a little disappointed by the Disney images. It's a shame that in order to make the Red Queen and Ursula more "attractive," the artist had to whittle their waistlines.

    1. Yeah, that's a really good point. What I found interesting about it was that Disney really does always try to make their villains "ugly," like they assume that we'll be superficial enough to just judge them at first glance. I just never picture Disney using some beautiful woman or man as a bad guy.

  13. I haven't read Perks yet either! It's on my to-read list though. So many great links on this post! I loved the Disney villains. And the little girl dressed up as Amelia Earhart! Such a perfect idea.
