I'm so grateful for this past year we were given to be so intentional about loving him while he was still with us. But it doesn't make it any easier knowing that he's gone. He lived a great fifteen years full of boat rides and cuddles and was blessed with so few health problems until recently. I loved him so much--still do. My life was made so much better because of that sweet dog.

I'm so grateful for this past year we were given to be so intentional about loving him while he was still with us. But it doesn't make it any easier knowing that he's gone. This breaks my heart. What a sweetheart. Hopefully you can keep your mind busy for the next little while to help with the pain. I can't imagine losing a pet since I haven't done it yet, but Im sure it's rough. Rip mister Rocky.
ReplyDeleteI'm so sorry to hear about Rocky. I wouldn't wish the pain of losing a dog on anybody. It's awful because they're our family too. He knew how much you guys loved him, it's just really hard for the people left behind. I'll be thinking of you!
ReplyDeleteI'm so sorry to hear this :( Reading your blog for quite some time now, I know how much you and your family loved him. Losing a pet is so tough because they really are such a big part of a family, it's truly heartbreaking. Rocky seemed like such a happy dog and how wonderful that he had such long, happy life...even though that doesn't make it easier to say goodbye.
ReplyDeleteHugs to you and your family during this difficult time! xoxo
I'm sorry, Megan. You and your family gave him such a wonderful life and you have 15 years or love and memories forever. ♥
ReplyDeleteOh sweet megan, I'm sorry.
ReplyDeleteSo sorry to hear this, Megan <3 Lots of warm thoughts your way.
ReplyDeleteMegan,
ReplyDeleteMy thoughts are so with you today. The pain of losing a dog is like no other, especially when you love them so fiercely. And I bet he knew it too.
Much love.
Thank you so much, Mary Kate. I think he did.
DeleteMegan, I'm tearing up reading this. I know it's so difficult to say goodbye to furry family members. We said goodbye to our chocolate lab almost five years ago and I still get very emotional when I think about it. Keep remembering all the happy times together, and I'll be thinking about you!
ReplyDeleteugh this is so heartbreaking but that part about how intentional you were with your love for him is such an awesome thing to have. Love you
ReplyDeleteSaw the title of the post and my heart stopped for a second. I'm so sorry to hear this! My last dog passed away while I was doing some summer coursework at college and it's never easy to hear, whether you're near or far. I know you're remembering all those sweet, good times that you wouldn't trade for anything, and I hope those bring you comfort. Hugs!
ReplyDeleteOh, thank you so much. It's really hard being far away but I know what you mean--it's just not going to be easy either way.
DeleteOh no! I am so sorry for you and the Flynn family! I feel so fortunate to have known Rocky--he was such a happy guy and always so easy going. If he had been a person he would have been the friend you could call up no matter what time of day it was to either cry to or get a beer with...even if it was a school night! I'm sure that Rocky's spirit is happy and contented to know that his time on this blue marble was spent so wonderfully with your family! RIP Rocky.
ReplyDeleteMegan, I am so sorry to hear this news- I'm tearing up as I write this. I'm absolutely certain Rocky is on an entirely different kind of boat ride somewhere right now (with sandwiches, I bet!) and loving every minute of it, but that doesn't make it any easier for the people he's left behind. My heart is hurting for you and your family. Rest easy, Rocky-dog.
ReplyDeleteThank you so much. I'm sure you're right.
DeleteRIP Rocky. I love our puppy so much who is very old and has hip pain...you carrying Rocky reminds me of how I have to carry Shadow up the stairs and lift her on to my bed when I visit. Dogs are a man's best friend. And Rocky sounds like he was just that.

you're in my thoughts & prayers today, because i know the ache of losing a beloved pet. here's to rocky's fifteen great years!
ReplyDeletethinking of you! i'm glad you got to have more time with him.
ReplyDeleteI'm so sorry for your lost. These kind of things always hit harder than we expect and the sorrow becomes deeper than we realize. I've been there more times than I care to recall or relive. But know that he left this world knowing he was a "good dog"...
ReplyDeleteThat's a dog's purpose in this world. He fulfilled it.
