Random Friday Morning

Friday, November 16, 2012

Good morning! I'm currently sitting in the kitchen, drinking some tea and actually writing this post in real time. Sometimes these feel so much better than scheduled posts. Also, I ran out of time last night.

My mom and her friend and I went to see a medium speak and do her thing yesterday evening. It was one of the coolest things I've ever experienced. I'll have to gather my thoughts and tell you about it another time.

I'm heading to work in a few minutes, and at four o'clock I'm heading out on my way to New York! It's a long drive, but I'm glad that after half of it, Rob will jump in and take the wheel. My mom is already on her way, and unfortunately my dad has to stay behind to work and take care of Rocky, but it's going to be nice to get there and see Sean run tomorrow. Then we're heading into the city and spending an extra night just doing whatever! Anyone have any recommendations for us? The last time I was there was about a year and a half ago, but we had a lot more than just a day and a half to explore!

What are you up to this weekend? Happy Friday!

  5. OMG, I envy your medium experience. I love the show "Long Island Medium" with Teresa Caputo, she seems like the real deal and I would loooooove to have thirty minutes with her. I don't really buy into most of that kind of thing, but what she does is hard to explain away with simple logic and science. How did you guys wrangle an evening with a medium? Can't wait to read all about it!
P.S. Have a great time in NYC and..."Run, Sean, Run!"

  6. Hope you have fun in my city this weekend! Some good paleo restaurant suggestions: Bareburger and Dig Inn. If you really want pizza Pala on Allen Street makes one with Daiya that is to die for, not really paleo, but...when in NY! Enjoy!

  7. Can't wait to hear about your trip to NYC! I know so many people say it, but it's seriously one of my favorite cities. :) Just walk around. Stop to enjoy what looks interesting to you!

  8. Go to SoHo.
Eat the corn on the cob at Cafe Habana (the cheese is obviously not paleo, but trust me that it's worth it).
Go to Muji and stock up on notebooks and pens.
Go to Uniqlo to stock up on all of your winter basics.
If you only make it to Midtown, go into Bouchon at Rockefeller and get some giant macarons and coffee and pretend you're french.

  10. NYC is such a fabulous food city (Paleo or non)...if you can break out of the Paleo for a bit without feeling too awful afterwards (which is really hard), there's a place called Levain Bakery on the UpperWest Side that is just out of this world. Chocolate chip cookies the size of your hand, and perfectly underdone...oh man. Paleo-wise, try Hudson Clearwater if you're in the mood for a romantic date... A little pricey, but ambiance for days and good meat/veg options!

  11. I've forgotten the joy of live posting, I do scheduled posts throughout the week because otherwise nothing would make it to my blog. The medium sounds super interesting.

    1. Haha I know! Sometimes I forget what it's like to just sit down and write something and click "Publish" instead of "Schedule" when you're done.

  12. We always enjoy boat tours. It's nice to get off your feet & see another view of the City. :)
But really, I find it's much more fun to have NO schedule. Just explore. Having an itinerary constantly can seem too business-like.

    Enjoy & be safe!
