What I Wore 40: Wannabe Kardashian

Tuesday, December 11, 2012

If there's one thing I love more than hearing Silent Night this time of year, it's black tie optional.

Sometimes these things call for a trip to the mall and a new dress, but once December hits, I try not to spend any money on myself until after Christmas. Unless it's for liquid eyeliner, which I totally bought for myself on Friday afternoon. Luckily, I've had this awesome dress hanging in my closet for a month or two, just waiting for Rob's work party in DC, so there was no need to buy a dress while I was at the mall.

Dress: c/o Chi-Chi
Fur: Vintage
Tights: J.Crew | Cocktail Ring: Mom's
Shoes: Jigsaw London
Hair: Jolie (whole story here)
Nail Color: Red My Fortune Cookie, OPI

I got this fur at a yard sale as a small child and used to play dress-up with it all the time. Because I've been watching a lot of Mad Men recently, I remembered that it's been hiding in the back of my closet for years and years, so I took it out and what do you know? It's pretty!

Happy holidays!
Let the party season begin!

  11. This is to Eliza, as Meg's dad and a once tried earlier years professional photographer Megan has always been my best model. I have always said she makes my work look great because I absolutely can't take a bad picture of her. She is so photogenic and comfortable in front of a camera not to mention beautiful I love taking pictures of her. If it makes you feel any better I would guess Meg's first three months of life all the above wasn't happening. She had that kind of new born alien face with a full head of black hair that stuck strait up. Basically looked like a damn doll ( If you remember those) or a troll doll but as my first child she was the most beautiful baby in the world. When I would get my pictures back and see what she really looked like, I thought I was just not finding the wright angle to show the world my gorgeous baby. luckily at about three months that new born alien look disapeared and the rest is history. Love you Meg, just couldn't pass this one up.

    1. Thanks! I was actually excited to learn that it was real--it made it feel special to me and now I have something really nice to pass down to a future daughter. I don't really have an issue with vintage fur (seems better than buying new)--and I have to admit that I'm a leather bag toting kind of girl, anyway.

  17. Classier than a Kardashian! That makes me laugh out loud, and I will probably use it at some point in the future. You look mah-velous, dahling! Is that reference too old to make you laugh? Bill Crystal, SNL, a long time ago...Here's my serious comment:

    rav·ish·ing
    Adjective
    Delightful; entrancing: "she looked ravishing".
    Synonyms
    charming - captivating - enchanting - fascinating

    Yeah, all those!
