Twin Cities Happy Hour | Red Cow in Minneapolis

Thursday, October 3, 2013

Rob and I visited Red Cow for a random late lunch about a month ago and were pleasantly surprised by the specials and the food. The place seems really new and our server was sweet but a bit shaky. Rob got a beer, I had a nice glass of wine, and we shared some wings, fries, and delicious little ahi tuna "crisps," which were served with avocado on a cracker. I love any place where Happy Hour starts at 3:00, so I think we'll probably be back.

(It's been a while since we've actually gone out in Minneapolis; we've been traveling so much lately that it's going to be nice to stay put for a weekend! My mom got in yesterday and Rob and I have been so excited to show her around a bit more. And on Friday, my cousin and aunt are coming from Montana! When we have visitors we usually just stick to our tried-and-true favorites. Any local friends have some recommendations for other places for us to try?)

  2. This looks delicious! And I love that french fries are a recurring character in your posts! I have a special affinity for fries myself. Have fun this weekend!

  4. Not sure what your tried and true are but LOVE 112 Eatery (obviously), Muddy Waters, Lyndale Taphouse (for burgers and upscale barfood and lots of TVs for Football), Nightengale, Bar La Grassa, Brasa, Restaurant Alma. Crap I could go on forever. Bitesquad is an awesome order-in option if it's too crappy of weather!

    1. Thank you so much! Brasa is one of my favorites and I think we'll probably go there on Saturday.

  5. I am SO excited that you are living in Minneapolis! I love that city so very much. I lived there for a couple years in my early 20s and had a great time. Where in the city are you living? Be sure to go to Dogwood Coffee in Uptown (my good friend Holly works there) and Spyhouse Coffee, just up the block from MCAD. Evergreen is a great restaurant and you should bicycle around Nicolette Island, especially on a warm summer evening when you can see the lights of the city. If you're ever feeling crafty, go to Crafty Planet on the North side and if you want a tattoo, go to Uptown Tattoo :) Hope you're having a great time there!

  6. I am SO excited you're living in Minneapolis, I adore that city. I lived there for a couple years in my early twenties and have many dear friends there. Where in the city do you live? Be sure to go to Dogwood Coffee in Uptown and Spyhouse just up the block from MCAD. Evergreen is a really good restaurant and there is great Vietnamese food on Nicolette Street. If you're ever feeling crafty, go to Crafty Planet on the North side and if you want a tattoo, go to Uptown Tattoo :) The Walker Art Center garden is lovely to wander through and you should definitely ride a bicycle around Nicolette Island, especially on a warm summer evening when you can see the lights of downtown. Pizza Luce is yummy and for an interesting raw food experience, the Ecopolitan is good. I hope you're enjoying it there! I'm gonna try to come up in the spring, maybe we can grab coffee or something.

  7. I love hearing about the restaurants you guys visit. I get to Mpls a couple of times a year so it is great to always get new ideas. I do have to say I love Butcher and the Boar…and Burger Moes is a great place for a simple bite.
