In the Spirit of Transparency

I share my life online, oftentimes without much thought, but I have to say that this post makes me nervous.

Every month, I post a link to my Sponsorship page and say, "I have some ad spots available for next month!" And I was going to do that again today, but we're just seven days away from the road to Minnesota; and I haven't told you the plan yet.

So, the plan.

The plan is for me to finish that recipe book I may have told some of you about over the winter, the one that I was so excited about and then ran out of time and energy to work on it. I need to find something that makes it feel more like an e-book and less like a Word document. It's going to have some recipes from here, but the majority of recipes will be new ones that you've never seen, and I can't wait to share it with you.

The plan is to continue on with Cave Girl Consulting--to use my passion for Paleo and help people tackle that lifestyle change.

And the plan is for me to write every day. Not just this is what I did all weekend, look at some photos, but also the real, honest-to-goodness writing that I haven't made time for over the past six months or so. Also weekly recipes, What I Wore posts, and a YouTube channel that consists of more than just videos of me taking tequila shots.

Am I supposed to tell you this? For a while I felt like I wanted to just move and start posting more frequently and with better quality content, and you'd wake up one morning and think "Wow, this girl is cool!" But at the same time, I feel anxious every day about being self- (or, rather un-)unemployed, and I want you guys to know that I have bigger dreams than simply becoming a stay-at-home wife.

So yes, I want you to sponsor my blog if you're looking for a place to advertise. But more than that, I want to know what you think. I want to know if you think I'm trying too hard, or if I come off as insincere in some way. Because I may want to do this, but I don't want to be an idiot about it.

Thanks for hanging with me. This blog has helped me transition through so many things, and I'm hoping to lean on it even more from now on. I wouldn't be the person I am if it weren't for the people I have met by blogging--there are three girls in my wedding party who can attest to that.

This is a life that I couldn't imagine not having.

  1. I absolutely love your blog! From my point of view you're doing everything right! Keep it up :)

  2. You do whatever your soul is telling you to do! Write whatever you want, whenever you want, however you want. Just GO TEAM MEGAN!

  3. Your plans sounds amazing and your blog is beautiful and enjoyable, so I'd love to read even more from you. Cannot wait to purchase your cookbook at some point!

  4. i'm so excited for this transition!!

    it's going to be amazing!!

let's do some tequila shots together soon.

  5. I think you're doing just fine! I love reading your blog; it's one of the ones I very much look forward to seeing pop up in my reader day after day. Having goals and a direction for your writing is not only personally admirable, but I think it really keeps a blog growing and moving forward, whatever direction you may want that to be. I don't think you'll ever run into insincerity or "trying too hard", but if it ever comes to that, I'm sure we'll all let you know :) Keep up the awesomeness!

  6. I've followed your blog for several years, and I've always loved it. You're sincere, quirky, smart and interesting. I especially loved when you used to write with prompts from "Old Friend From Far Away"-- those were always the most beautiful (and I own the book, so it's cool to see someone else using it!) I've also been dabbling with the Paleo diet because of you. Just keep doing what you're doing-- you'll do fine! (And if you are ever in Oregon, let me know!) :-)

  7. I've really enjoyed reading your blog these past few months and I don't think you've ever come off as anything but sincere. I think it's great that you have a specific focus for your writing and in the end, it will strengthen your blogging. Keep doing what you're doing and good luck!

  8. I just renewed my ad the other day because you're pretty awesome. I'm so glad to be a part of this blog <3

  9. Megan,
I know you are about to go through probably to date one of the biggest changes in your life that you have made. As you know I'm pretty good at making some pretty big changes in my life. Like stop practicing Chiropractic after 18 years in the SF bay area. Selling everything packing up my wife and two little children and moving to Roanoke Virginia to start opening franchise hair salons. Most people are so scared of change that they never make any, and live fairly stagnant lives. They think that people who make big changes must just not have any fears and one day when they don't have any fear they will start making those changes they dream about. The truth is every time I make a change or a big change I have fear too. But I want the dream on the other side of the change so bad that I just push through the fear. If people only new that the reality is once you push yourself through the fear and stretch your comfort zone just that much bigger as fearful as that feels. It's amazing that it only takes a few weeks for those changes and your now bigger comfort zone life feels as comfortable as you were before you made that big step. But now you are doing things you never dreamed you could have done with no fear . How cool is that! Sorry I just felt compelled to write this when I read your blog this morning ( as I always do). I just want you to know that I'm so proud of you and see that you are willing to take these big steps in spite of the fear and watching your life come together after collage . Also if I have never told you I love Rob and look forward to every time he comes to our house and he feels like just part of our family already. Proud to be your dad, Dad

  10. Ditto!

I always enjoy your daily posts, regardless of the subject. Yours is one of only three blogs I check in on daily, and I always feel a little sad on Saturday morning that there won't be a new post again until Monday.
What you are about to do is so incredibly brave, and exciting too. I envy you a little, and I will enjoy reading about your transition as you experience all the ways big and small that your life will change over the next year. I'm twice your age, but I have a yearning for a new adventure in my life, I just haven't decided what it will be as of yet. I'm intrigued with the idea of a big move and starting over.

You will sparkle and shine no matter where you land! Go, Freckles!

  11. You know I'm behind you 100% and am super proud of you. You got this, girl - you're the best. xo.

  12. If anyone can go out and make shit happen for herself, it's you. Changes are good! Big, terrifying changes are even better! I'm so excited for you to make a name for yourself in the cooking/health world with your cookbook and your posts and your YouTube channel. Just please don't give up those tequila shot videos. Watching that was when I knew you were a girl I wanted to be friends with.

  13. I bet it felt good to write this out, huh? what an incredible adventure you're embarking on - and Jackie's right! if there's anyone who will maximize being true to herself, it's you :)

  14. Keep out the good work. You are doing great!
